As we embarked on our first tour about a year ago, Michael, Dan and I were bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and ready for what the road had to throw at us: 1) Little sleep and lots of drinking 2) Audience hecklers and fans singing along 3) Low attendance at shows and sold-out venues 4) People who wouldn’t like our music and people who would become fans. We didn’t really know what to expect, but our imaginations painted the best and the worst of it.
Another tour variable was the headliner.
Would the band be nice?
Would they prank us?
Would they give us a shout-out on stage, or kick us off the tour because our harmonies weren’t “rock” enough?
Having just finished a tour with Jack’s Mannequin and Steel Train, it seems as if our touring experiences are getting better and better. When you’re sleeping and driving aside the same guys for a month, you really hope and pray (baruch atah adonai…) that everyone gets along. We really felt a special bond with the other bands on this past tour. We’re super excited to get the know the guys in Guster and spend the rest of the summer and fall with the guys from JM.
Andrew McMahon, lead singer of Jack’s and Something Corporate, is a really special dude. His graciousness and persona is no secret in the industry and amongst his fans. On June 1, 2005, as he was preparing for the release of his debut solo album, Everything In Transit, Andrew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 22 years old…
Recently, Michael, Dan and I sat down and watched Dear Jack, a documentary that Andrew made using a video camera, originally bought for him by his record company, to capture the making of Everything In Transit. Instead, Andrew ended up using the camera to sho0t his journey to beat Leukemia.

In July 2006, Andrew founded a non-profit charity, The Dear Jack Foundation, to raise funds for cancer research. The organization’s primary beneficiaries are the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the regents of the University of California Los Angeles.
